Chamunda Devi Temple

Chamunda Devi Temple sits on the banks of the Baner river beneath the snow-capped Dhauladhar range in the Kangra valley, one of a network of Shakti shrines, alongside Jwalamukhi, Chintpurni and Naina Devi, that together form Himachal Pradesh's regional goddess-worship circuit. The temple's present structures are comparatively modest hill-vernacular buildings rather than major carved stone monuments, its significance resting on continuity of worship and its role within the wider Shaktipeeth network rather than on architectural grandeur. An adjoining shrine to Nandikeshwar (Shiva's bull vehicle, worshipped here in temple form) shares the courtyard, an unusual pairing.
