Stone & Wood
The carved sanctuaries of Khajuraho and the granite vimanas of Thanjavur were raised by hands whose descendants still practise the trade today. Working stone carvers and woodworkers in these regions use techniques that trace back to the temple workshops that shaped these monuments.

Fabrics & Weaves
Kanchipuram silk and Maheshwari cotton are woven on looms that have barely changed in generations. Threads are dyed by hand and patterns set thread by thread in weaving houses across Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.

Bharatanatyam, born in the temple courtyards of Tamil Nadu, is still performed near the sanctuaries where the form originated — a living tradition, not a staged reconstruction.
